Description

Water quality monitoring and hydrological modelling within the Vaal Dam and Vaal Barrage catchment areas to ensure protection of raw water quality.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fieldwork for surface and/or groundwater quality sampling in catchment areas
• Monitor water quality parameters using manual and automated methods
• Assist in the setup, calibration, and validation of hydrological and water quality models
• Collect, clean, analyse, and interpret hydrological and water quality data using GIS and statistical tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Water Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related field
• (Honours or Master’s degree advantageous)
• Valid South African driver’s license (Code B) – field travel may be required
• Willingness to work in remote areas and conduct fieldwork under varying weather conditions
• Good report writing and communication skills in English (other South African languages advantageous)
